Ambient goods
Ambient items are shelf-stable and do not need refrigeration. Store them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat sources and strong odours. Please check the use-by or best-before date printed on each item.
Chilled goods
Chilled items are dispatched at 0 to 5°C and must be refrigerated immediately on delivery. Our packaging holds a safe chilled temperature throughout a standard next-day delivery. If your chilled items feel warm, or are above 8°C on arrival, please contact us straight away.
Frozen goods
Frozen items are dispatched below minus 18°C and must go into your freezer immediately on delivery.
Items that arrive partially thawed but are still cold and firm to the touch can go straight into the freezer. Quality may be affected. Anything that has fully defrosted should be kept in the fridge and used within 3 days rather than refrozen.
Before your delivery arrives
Have freezer space ready. It is the single thing that makes the most difference to how your order turns out.
Packaging and the cold chain
We have tested our packaging thoroughly to make sure your order holds a safe temperature throughout delivery. We always use a next-day service.
- Chilled goods: insulated liner with gel ice packs, designed to maintain 0 to 8°C for up to 24 hours in ambient conditions up to 25°C
- Frozen goods: insulated liner with high-performance gel packs, designed to maintain below 0°C for up to 24 hours
- Ambient goods: protective packaging to prevent damage in transit, with no temperature control required
In extreme ambient temperatures above 37°C the effectiveness of our chilled and frozen packaging may be reduced. In those conditions we reserve the right to delay dispatch to protect product quality and food safety.
Receiving your delivery
- Please make sure someone is available at the delivery address to receive the order
- Refrigerate or freeze your dough balls and any other chilled or frozen items immediately
- Store ambient items in a cool, dry place straight away
- Check that all packaging is intact and undamaged on arrival
- Follow the storage and use-by instructions included with your order
Courier and tracking
We generally dispatch using DPD, and may use an alternative courier where necessary. Please download the DPD app and make sure the correct email address, mobile number and full address including postcode are entered. If an address is entered incorrectly, you will not be eligible for a refund or replacement.
A dispatch note is sent on the day your order ships, with the tracking number included. You will also get an update from the courier during the evening to confirm they have your parcel. Please do not ignore these messages.
Changing your delivery date
Because our products are perishable and temperature-sensitive, delaying your shipment using DPD’s “in flight” option is entirely at your own risk. DPD does not store parcels in a chilled or frozen environment overnight. Where you delay delivery after we have passed the order to DPD, we bear no responsibility if the parcel is damaged or spoiled, and a refund or replacement will not be provided.
Missed deliveries
If you miss your delivery, our courier will follow their standard re-delivery or safe place procedure. Please be aware of the risks by product type:
- Chilled goods must be refrigerated promptly. We cannot guarantee the quality or safety of chilled items left unrefrigerated for more than 2 hours after delivery
- Frozen goods must go into a freezer promptly. We cannot guarantee the quality or safety of frozen items that have been left to thaw. No refund or replacement will be offered where a missed delivery leads to spoilage through no fault of ours or our courier
- Ambient goods are generally more tolerant of a missed delivery, but please check the packaging and use-by dates when you collect them
If something goes wrong
Damaged, incorrect or missing orders
If your order arrives damaged, incomplete or different from what you ordered, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery. Email hello@pizza-co.uk with your order number and, where possible, photographs of the issue.
We will review your claim promptly and offer an appropriate remedy, which may include a replacement or a refund, in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015. The 24 hour window is how our own process works and does not limit your statutory rights.
Rare delays
Occasionally delays happen for reasons outside our control, including severe weather and courier disruption. We will do our best to let you know as soon as possible.
Bank holidays. We do not dispatch or deliver on bank holidays. If one falls during your delivery period your schedule will be adjusted and we will email you to confirm.
Cancelling an order
You can cancel free of charge at any time before we hand your order to the courier. Please email hello@pizza-co.uk as soon as possible and we will refund you in full.
Once your order has been dispatched we are not able to cancel it, because it is a temperature-controlled parcel already in transit. Please do not refuse delivery, as unattended frozen goods become a food safety risk. Contact us instead and we will work something out.
Because our products are perishable and liable to deteriorate rapidly, the 14 day cooling-off period that normally applies to online orders does not apply here. This is set out in regulation 28(1)(c) of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. It does not affect your rights if goods arrive faulty, damaged or not as described.
